Future of Photoshop!

Those of you that's keeping up with the Adobe programs probably know that CS6 is being released soon. This version will not only improve the photo editing tools, but it will also have video editing tools. CS6 will also feature several more Content-Aware Tools like the Content-Aware Patch and the Content-Aware Move Tools. The Video editing tools will be sort of like a simpler Adobe Premier, with some of the same tools. You will also be allowed to edit the videos in layers and you can also export the video in a few of the more popular formats.

Something helpful that has been changed with the layers is that you can now search for a layer by the effects that you used on it, this makes it easier to find layers that are similar to others but that has different effects. Another thing that concerns the layers is that it is now possible to clip layers in groups. Some problems that occured in CS5 has also been fixed, like the copying from Illustrator issue as well as the wonky 90 degree rotation problem.

These are only a few of the many great changes that has been made by CS6, to check out the rest you can go look at http://bjango.com/articles/photoshopcs6/.

Photo Editing

The tools that Photoshop is known for is the photo editing tools. This includes the Healing Brush and Spot Healing Brush Tools, Patch Tool, Red Eye Tool as well as the Clone Stamp and Pattern Stamp Tools.
These tools can all be used to change things in a photo that you are unhappy with. For example the Red Eye Tool removes the red eye effect in photo's (that is kind of obvious). Clone Stamp is used when there is a part of the photo that contains something (usually something small) that should not be there and that you want to remove. By using a part of the photo that has a similar background to the place where the 'something' is, you can clone the background and cover the blemish.

Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a program designed to alter photos and images. The program can also be used to create images and logos. Photoshop consists of tools that can be used to remove certain parts of images or photos and tools that can be used to add or alter the images.

The effects that can be utilised in Photoshop make it a versatile program, but some of the names of the effects can make it hard to understand what exactly the effect does to the image. The program is ideal for changing photos in a way that improves it, like changing the colour balance or removing red-eyes and other things that compromises the quality of the photo. If there is something that is not on the photo you can easily add it.

The layers that can be used in Photoshop make it easy to create new images and to alter those images afterwards. Layers simplifies the process by allowing you to view the image with and without the altercations that you have made. Layers can also be used to add colours to the photo that was not there before and can effects can be added and removed using layers. Sometimes, when layers are not named correctly, it is difficult to distinguish between which layer contains which images.

Flaws in photos can be removed using the clone stamp and healing brush tools. This allows you to utilise another part of the photo that is similar to the part with the flaw to paint over the part that you want to remove. Something that bothers me about Photoshop is that while you can add or remove parts of the photo it rarely looks 'real' in that you can see that the image is altered and it is very difficult to make not make the image look altered. To make an image that looks like it is the original takes a lot of time and effort that not everyone is willing to make.

A thing that I really like about Photoshop is that if the problem that you have with a image is small like you want to remove something that is in the middle of an environment that looks the same it is easy to remove. You can also vastly improve a photo by making the colours more vibrant.

You can also add and alter text with Photoshop. Something that I enjoy is adding the text to a path. This means that you can make text that does not run in a straight line but text that can be written in different shapes. You can also add masks to objects or to text. This allows you to make an image on top of another image or pattern and then make the pattern part of the image by locking them together. It is sometimes difficult to create a sufficient mask when the layers are not ordered correctly.

Overall Photoshop is a great program for altering or creating and editing images. Photoshop is easy to use and has a good setup for beginners.
